Introduction

Hello everyone! :) Firstly, we would like to welcome you to our blog. In this blog, we will attempt to create the understanding of visual, physical and mental connotation between the elderly people and products related to them and also understanding how different products can be designed to create specific experiences for the elderly. Before we go deeper into the subject, let us first give you a brief introduction of the group of people who are categorized as senior citizens.


Senior citizens refer to a group of individuals in a society who are aged 65 years old and above. These people have worked hard to bring our nation to the state it is today - peaceful, harmony and successful. Their contributions and hard work had helped us tide through rough times and overcome many problems.


Unfortunately, today our nation is facing yet another big problem - an ageing population. According to the statistics recorded by the Singapore Statistics website, the senior citizen makes up 11.8 % of our whole population. Over the years this figure have increased. The old-age support ratio is 8.4 people per elderly aged 65 years old and above. Refer to the figure below for the exact figures.
